Hardware & Software Purchasing

Purchases and Acquisitions Must Be Approved

All purchases for computing hardware and software must be approved by ATLAS. Any transfers of equipment between client units and other campus departments or surplus must also be approved by ATLAS.

Any hardware or software obtained without ATLAS-SOS approval will not be supported by ATLAS-SOS. This includes any accessories as well.

Windows Desktops

  • Vendors: Enterprise class Dell & HP; other vendors must receive approval from ATLAS (consumer class/retail systems will NOT be supported)
  • Operating System: Windows XP Professional
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.8 GHz or AMD equivalent
  • Hard Drive Size: 160 GB hard drive minimum
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM minimum
  • Storage: DVD Burner
  • Onboard VGA
  • 3 Year Warranty

Windows Laptops

  • Vendor: Enterprise class laptops from Lenova/IBM, Dell, or HP; other vendors must receive approval from ATLAS (consumer class/retail systems will NOT be supported)
  • Operating System: Windows XP Professional
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.8 GHz or AMD equivalent
  • Hard Drive Size: 120 GB hard drive minimum
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM minimum
  • Storage: DVD Burner
  • Connectivity: Wireles, Ethernet - both built in
  • 3 Year Warranty, Accidental protection and proof of a quality carrying case

Apple Macintosh

  • Model: All current models
  • Processors: Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Operating System: OS 10.4
